Director
Sue’s experience and special touch brings a depth of understanding of people, together with a sound grasp of business and organizational issues. Her appreciation of typical current leadership pressures and the realities of how managers learn and change, inform her leadership development and coaching work. Sue’s career began with a series of management and marketing roles with ICI for a number of years and subsequently as a management consultant working mainly with SMEs in the marketing services sector helping them with staff recruitment and mentoring Directors on developing their business.
For the last 25 years Sue has worked mainly at senior and middle levels of management in the private, public and voluntary sectors as an Executive Coach and Organisation and Leadership Development Consultant. She has worked extensively with managers on the typical leadership challenges they face. For example taking a more strategic perspective and setting strategic direction, motivating and engaging a team, influencing and managing key stakeholder relationships, developing a personal leadership style and approach that is authentic, whilst achieving challenging organisational objectives.
A specialism she’s developed in recent years has been in the area of inclusive leadership. She has worked as a faculty member facilitator and coach on two long-running Positive Action talent management programmes in the public sector, aimed at increasing representation of minority, socially disadvantaged groups ( e.g. gender, sexual orientation, ethnic, disabled) at senior leadership levels. She is an Associate Executive Coach of EY, as a member of the Senior Civil Servant Coach Faculty, and an approved contractor to the NHS leadership Academy. She currently is a member of the APECS Inclusion and Diversity Working Group, as part of her on-going practitioner inquiry into how leaders can best enable organisational change towards a more inclusive culture, and supporting them in this challenging but rewarding leadership task.
Sue gained her MSc in Change Agent Skills and strategies at University of Surrey in 2007. She is BPS Level B qualified and is qualified to use a range of psychometrics including the MBTI (Steps I and II), FIRO, 16PF, Hogan and WAVE. She is also an Accredited Coach with the Association of Professional Executive Coaching and Supervision (APECS) and a Certified Management Consultant with the Institute of Consulting (IC).
